Rapshack.co.uk Enterprising award winners and ranked number 1 on Google & Yahoo.

With a vast knowledge of Hip Hop dating back to the early 1980's and record shop management for almost a decade in the naughties, a gap in the web site market was calling out for.

Successfully wining a small business loan from The Prince'e Trust, a British young entrepreneurs charity, Rapshack.co.uk was born. Supplying record shops in the East of England whilst constructing the site nurtured the brand name and built a customer base. After a year of blood, sweat and tears the website was ready to go live.

Constructing the site with no web knoweledge and little computer knowledge proved challenging yet exciting. Within a month of going live orders from as far away as New Zealand were being made, proving that all the hard work in setting up the site had been worth it.

A year after starting up, Rapshack.co.uk was awarded an enterprising award from The Prince's Trust for the best business in it's region. The owner, Adam had a chance to flex his other skill, Scratching and DJing before A-List celebrities such as Will Smith, Thandie Newton and Joanna Lumley to name a few at a charity gig held by The Prince' Trust at the prestigious 5 star London hotel, The Dorchester.

Two years later into the game, a 'bricks and mortar' shop was opened and sponsorship of the 'Album Of The Month' in the longest running Hip Hop magazine, Hip Hop Connection saw the sucess of the Rapshack brand grow. Unfortunately the magazine is no longer running as a paper format and unforseen circumstances with the premises led to a premature closure of the shop. Determined and passionate this was seen as a mere set back. The Rapshack crew were not willing to lay down their guns yet!!

Just after 3 years of going live Rapshack.co.uk is now ranked number 1 on Google* and Yahoo** and is one of the fastest growing on line record shops for UK and Import Hip Hop, Funk Vinyl and CDs, DVDs, magazines, rarities and collectables to arise from the U.K.

If it's a new Hip Hop Vinyl release, a hot CD you are after or a fly looking T Shirt, then Rapshack.co.uk has it all. Check out the video pages for some live action or the Blogspot for news on releases, special Hip Hop features, news and special offers. Also why not join the Rapshac.co.uk group on Facebook or befriend us on Myspace?

Thanks for reading and we hope that you will join us in our continuing success in the years to come.

Happy Diggin'.

Rapshack 'Concentrate' Artist profile-MF Doom.

MF Doom or simply Doom, has appeared in several collaborative projects such as Danger Doom (with Danger Mouse) and Madvillain

(with Madlib), but it was his first group, KMD that he formed with his brother, Subroc and another MC, Onyx the Birthstone

Kid.. They were signed to Elektra Records after their A+R man learned of them through 3rd Bass.

It was on 3rd Bass' album "The Cactus Album" that they had there recorded debut featuring on a song called "Gas Face". In

1991 their debut album, "Mr Hood" was released and got alot of video play on Yo! MTV Raps, MTV show.

Two years later in 1993 subroc was struck down by a car and wass killed just before the release of their second album, "Black

Bastards". The Album was shelved due to it's cover art, a cartoon of a stereotypical pickaninny or sambo character being

hanged from the gallows.

With the loss of his brother, Doom retreated from the hip-hop scene from 1994 to 1997. He testifies to disillusionment and

depression, living "damn near homeless, walking the streets of Manhattan, sleeping on benches."[1][3] In the late 1990s, he

left New York City and settled in Atlanta. According to interviews with Doom, he was also "recovering from his wounds" and

swearing revenge "against the industry that so badly deformed him."[1] Black Bastards had become bootlegged at the time,

leading to Doom's rise in the underground hip-hop world.

A year later in In 1998, Doom began freestyling incognito at open-mic events at the Nuyorican Poets Café in Manhattan,

obscuring his face by putting a stocking over his head. He meanwhile had taken on a new identity, MF Doom, (Inspired by his

good friend MF Grimm) patterned after and wearing a mask similar to that of Marvel Comics supervillain Doctor Doom. He wears

this mask while performing and isn't photographed without it.

Old School British rapper Derek B dies at 44.

British rapper Derek B dies at 44

British rapper Derek B, one of the first UK hip-hop stars to enjoy chart success and an influence on future urban artists, has died aged 44. According to reports Derek Boland, a.k.a Derek B suffered a heart attack.

He started his musical career DJing in a mobile unit around London, before joining local pirate radio stations such as Kiss FM and LWR and finally starting his own station, WBLS (not to be confused with the radio station of the same name in New York).

He joined Simon Harris' Music of Life as the closest thing they had to an A&R man. Boland stepped in to record a track called "Rock the Beat" he co-produced the track with Simon Harris, when a planned compilation of U.S. hip hop called Def Beats 1 (Music of Life, 1986) ran short of tracks. Simon Harris also rapped on it under the pseudonym EZQ and also did his own DJing under the Derek B name.

Derek B also had UK top 20 hits with “Good Groove” and “Bad Young Brother” in 1988 and co-wrote the “Anfield Rap” for Liverpool Football Club and a recorded an album called “Bullet From a Gun”. His hits saw him become one of the first British hip-hop stars to appear on programmes like Top of the Pops, yet he received criticism for rapping under an assumed American accent, something which was popular in the early days of British Hip Hop.

"He was one of the first artists that I saw get to such a level through rap, and be on Top of the Pops, be on children's programmes, be on the world stage.

"He was one of the ones to do it first, when it was thoroughly unacceptable from the mainstream perspective. At the time, he was absolutely groundbreaking. He definitely broke the door down." London rapper Ty.

Rapshack 'Concentrate' Artist profile-BLACK MILK.

In only a few years, producer/emcee Black Milk has quickly developed into one of the few hip hop artists who both carries an

accomplished resume and is followed with widely-held optimism about what he can bring as one of the leaders of the modern

hip hop movement.

Now 25 years old, Black (born Curtis Cross) earned his stripes both locally in his native Detroit and on a national

level
from his associations with Slum Village. After getting his first production credit for "What is This" on SV's

sophomorealbum "Trinity" in 2002, he produced much of the popular group's next two albums both individually and as

part
of the production team BR Gunna, with whom he also released the album "Dirty District, Vol. 2." It wasn't until his

self-released debut solo album "Sound of the City" in 2005 did he begin to achieve some notoriety as an emcee, and it was

off the strength of the album that he signed his first record deal with Fat Beats Records in 2006.

Upon the release of his "Popular Demand" album in March 2007, Black Milk instantly became one of underground hip hop's

ambassadors. In addition to becoming a go-to producer for commissioned beats on an independent level (he's placed beats

on projects by Kidz in the Hall, Guilty Simpson, Strange Fruit Project, Genius/GZA, and many more), he's also worked with

major label artists like Pharoahe Monch, Kardinal Offishall, and Busta Rhymes. He's also recently released two albums on his

own Music House imprint (Fat Ray's "The Set Up" and "Black Milk presents Caltroit"), produced nearly an entire album for

Elzhi from Slum Village ("The Preface"), and produces and rhymes as a member of the group Random Axe (with Sean Price and

Guilty Simpson) who have a full length album scheduled for release in early 2009.

50 Cent in hospital after listening to Fat Joe's new Album!!

Rapper 50 Cent ends up in hospital after listening to New York rapper, Fat Joe's new album 'JOSE2'. Fat Joe's new album drops in October 6th 2009, while 50 Cent's , long awaited new album has been put back to November. May be 50 is annoyed that Fat Joe got to release his first?! Who knows but the video is funny:)

"I listened to Fat Joe's records. It hurt. I told you people not to listen to his music. Some people didn't listen, and look what happened: Young Buck tried to ride his motorcycle [while] listening to Fat Joe, and look what happened! Fat Joe's record is the worst thing that ever happened to hip-hop. I love hip-hop. It's because his music sucks so bad it's gonna kill people!"

Looks like a new East/West coast battle is set to blow just in time for Christmas kids!

Roc Raida one of the founding members of the X-Ecutioners has died.

Roc Raida one of the founding members of the X-Ecutioners turntablist crew has died at the age of 37. Roc Raida (Anthony Williams) is the reason a lot of DJs and Turnatblists today started to do what it is they do. He has won numerous DJ battles including World DMC champion in 1995 and got crowned Grandmaster.

The X-Ecutioners crew was formely named The X-Men but had to change names due to leagal reasons from Marvel comics. The original line up was, Roc Raida, Mr Sinista, DJ Eclipse and Rob Swift, they all came from the East side of the U.S and battled many times across the world winning titles along the way.

A major influence in the DJ game, Roc Raida progressed into the production side of Hip Hop and made 6 solo albums and numerous Mixtapes and DJ Scratch Tools.

Recently he has been Busta Rhymes tour DJ and the Rap start has expressed his sorrow for his lost friend and tour partner on Twitter. "I am sorry 2 say that on this day at 2:05 Sept 19th we lost another incredible life...Dj Roc Raida died 2day my personal Dj is gone... I just wanna thank everyone 4 ur love and support and ur prayers...We will never let ur name die Roc...We love u and will 4ever miss u...RIP."
